I fully identify with your experience - even if my wake up call came until my forties - and the rationale behind your decision. Thanks for writing this up. Hopefully, increasing numbers of people will have the courage and independence of mind to drop alcohol from their lives before things get too bad, as they eventually often do. Perhaps in some decades we'll look back with wonder at "those times" in which people loaded themselves with ethanol, unaware of its its cancerous, destructive effects.
